My favorites were:
Wilco, Dave and Friends, Damien Rice, and surprisingly David Byrne. I missed The Dead because my buddies and I were running around dressed like the Superfriends. Did any of you see that?
I was also disappointed to miss Trey because the rain finally beat me down. I heard it was a great set though. I could hear it from my campsite.
Also, what was up with Primus starting so late? That totally killed my buzz.

Re: What did you all think?
Tue, June 15, 2004 - 12:49 PMI camped the main stage all day friday, so i was in the 5th row for Wilco, Dave, and Bob. Wilco was awesome, Dave's set was disapointing, he was drunker than normal, and high as well, it was visible from where I was sitting, he and Tim appeared to not have it going on that night, still good however. Trey fucking tore it up ya'll. He directed the Nashville orchestra and came out after that for his own set. The Dead was probably my overall favorite dancing knee deep in the mud with the neighbors.
I loved the whole experience. Who's got my headies?

Re: What did you all think?
Tue, June 15, 2004 - 1:30 PMWow, where do I start? I loved Wilco, New Monsoon, Los Lonely, Yonder was good but disapointing - I've seen much better shows from them. Also loved Umphrey's McGee, Kings of Leon, Acoustic Syndicate, Del & the Boys were probably one of my most favorite. Also the Bad Plus. The energy in that tent was amazing, they were eating it up and covered black sabbath. The Dead was really really really awesome. Damien Rice, and Jazz Mandolin were also some of my top favs. Leftover always is great - they had fun, Soulive was full of energy. They had a sit in drummer Adam Diecht from the Scofield Trio - I think he's better than Alan Evans their normal drummer. Trey's 1st set was cool with the Orchestra - Gotta love that. But I felt like the 2nd set was much more dissapointing. It seems like Trey is losing his appeal a little bit - but maybe that's just me.
Overall you GOTTA love 'Roo. But just as it was in the past 2 years, it is just overwhelming and totally exhausting. I got burnt to a crisp, covered in mud, aching back from standing all day, etc etc. It did a number on me - did anyone else feel the effects of this? Either way, it's all worth it - the phsycial effects, the 18 hr drive, the heat - ALL worth it, which is why I haven't missed one yet. -

Re: What did you all think?
Thu, June 24, 2004 - 2:00 PMMase - yeah all the weather effects along with the drive were a bit exhausting. But worth it. What amazes me was I could have chosen another path and seen a complete diffent set of bands than I saw during the day time and late night and still had a great time. You do gotta love 'Roo.
